Computer Engineering

    Computer engineering is the field that involves design, implementation, digital systems, and implementing new tech into systems and applications. The invention of the transistor in 1947 technology advances have sky rocketed in the field. With more than 100 million transistors in a single circuit chip you can see how much we have advanced in the field. They are able to operate more than one billion lines of operations each second. The large advances in computer tech allow devices to become smaller, less costly, and  higher performance.

People who work in this field do a multitude of tasks such as research, design, develop and test computer systems and components such as processors, circuit boards, memory devices, networks and routers. Another large part computer engineering is designing soft ware for the hardware they test.

   The outlook for this field is increasingly growing as the years go by. Researchers believe it will grow by 7% from 2012-2022. According to BLS the reason why it is a growing outlook is the need for better computers because technology is always advancing this day of age. The software portion of this field is said to grow a massive 22% in 2012-2020, because the hardware that is being created needs software developers.
